4. Membership: Tomorrow is last day for early bird discount on membership. A reminder also that if your memberships aren't yet renewed you are no longer insured for 24 hr training and racing. If note renewed by tomorrow your record will also be wiped from the pointscore and any points earned in July will be deleted (we have to draw a line in the sand somewhere). So, if you haven't already sorted your membership renewal or signed up for 2008/2009 we encourage you to do so ... right now. Membership form is attached for your convenience.

NT LONG COURSE TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS (24 August 08):

1. Have been requested to do a bit of team matching for this event. If you wish to participate in a team try and get together with some other club members in the first instance or forward details of the leg you wish to participate in and I'll keep a spreadsheet and bring to next event.

2. If you intend to compete as an individual at the Long Course could you flick a return email through please. An idea of the field size will make organisers tasks a whole lot easier.

FOR SALE / WANTED ETC:

1. New items or re runs for this section in by Sunday 5pm please.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Word from USM is that Noosa individual field is 85% full and expected to close soon. If Noosa is on your radar for this year, you better move fast.

2. Also closing shortly, entry to Vietnam International Triathlon 23 Aug 08. See http://www.vietnamtriathlon.com

3. Congratulations to Rob Weatherald, Ernie Koch and Alison Croser who were age group winners at the ABC Darwin Half Marathon at the weekend.

4. Bakers Delight are running a competition at the moment where local sporting clubs right across Australia have the chance to receive a $2,500 Top Sports Grant. The funds could be used to buy new equipment. Buy any Savoury Scholl, fill out the entry form & nominate Darwin Triathlon Club as your sports club and place it in the entry box at your local Bakers Delight.

5. USA Today reported: The International Olympic Committee will keep all of the drug testing samples taken from Beijing Olympic athletes for eight years, IOC spokeswoman Emmanuelle Moreau said Monday. Previously, the IOC stored samples that tested positive for 90 days and samples that tested negative for 30 days, Moreau said via e-mail. The new rules will make athletes competing in the upcoming Games subject to results of tests that could be developed any time within the statute of limitations established in 2004 by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)."

6. I love this: French cyclist Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli, who is — two months shy of her 50th birthday — will compete in Beijing in her seventh consecutive Olympics. Way to go Jeannie!

7. Rowena Eastick says she continues to enjoy the email news (although it does make her miss being home training and competing - and she is so looking forward to getting back on her road bike, and into an olympic pool not used for local bathing). Rowie also sent some interesting cycling photos which I'll get up on Flickr shortly.

8. Welcome back to Helen Clayton who has recently returned to Darwin with her partner and their young son. Baby no 2 is due in September.

Triathlon 3 x the fun
Cheers
