TRIATHLON NT NEWS:

1. POSITION VACANT: Triathlon NT is seeking an interested person to act as Event Coordinator for a major event this year. There is funding available for this casual position. Interested please contact eo@triathlonnt.com.au for position description.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Rob Weatherald is in good holiday form. He came in 5th overall in the long course category of the Sam White Memorial Aquathlon in Adelaide. The elite event winners were Christopher Rawlings (34.40) and Sarah Rawlings (37.00). The elites do 1.7/500/1.7/500/1.7 !

2. Phil Blumberg also raced in the Adelaide aquathlon. Having to pay a $45 entry fee made him appreciate how good we have it up here. Shhhh !

3. Popular former Triathlon NT president Amanda Donohoe heads out of town this week Melbourne bound. We wish Amanda all the best for her stint in the big city.

4. News is in that our club vice president Mick Outhred is departing Darwin early next month after 3.5 years in the Territory. Mick's contribution will be missed, especially his work on our club calendar.

5. It's always interesting to see what shape people are in at the beginning of the year. Ryoko Jones and Simon Cruickshank are looking speedy and have obviously been putting in over the break; Lisa Quinell moved up a lane at swimming; Nerida Godfrey is on the comeback trail after a chest infection; James Geddes is of very trim appearance; Rob Brooks has IM fit stamped on his forehead; Brett Verity is getting the body back in shape; Grant Preddy is running well; Ali Croser is riding well; Kyle Gear has headed down south for training and racing and she who will remain nameless got dropped in the latte lane at swimming !

6. A reminder to get your entries in for the Australian Triathlon Championships (OD) which have been moved to Canberra on the Australia Day weekend. More info http://res.au.eventdirector.net/TACT/SITES/713/default.asp?PageID=11671

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... a stint in the garden causes more pain than an Ironman
... you have figured out how to put your bike on a windtrainer
... the BOM website is heading up your favourites

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn

Ali Croser in action at Ironman WA. Age Group 3rd place and oh so close to a Kona slot
Hi All,

Welcome back. Hoping you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year celebrations and managed to get a whole lot of relax time in as well.

Are you ready for 2010 ?? All the resolutions in place? Mmmm, there's time to make a few if you haven't done so. I know some of you have picked a race or three to target this year and are already out there training. Others have declared their intentions of not missing any of our club races. Still others have solemnly declared that they will swim more, ride more and run more this year !

Looks as though we will be keeping an eye on the BOM for awhile yet. A quick check of the radar indicates wet, wet, & wetter on the way for today and from the sounds of it, windy as well.

OTHER NEWS:

1. You will have all received a letter from Triathlon Australia prior to Christmas regarding the changes to the events calendar. The Australian Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships are now in Canberra later this month. For more information on the Canberra event please check link below:

http://res.au.eventdirector.net/TACT/SITES/713/default.asp?PageID=11671

2. The stork has been very busy during the break and we have some new little tri babies.

First up Bronwen and Marcus Lisle welcomed their beautiful daughter Samantha Charlotte on 22/12/09 just before 5pm. Samantha weighed in at 3.16 kg was a petite 48cm long. Mother and daughter came through with flying colours, Dad needed a cup of tea, a Bex and a lie down !

Melissa and Scott Bevis made it through Christmas (just) before the stork called on them! Their baby son Darcy Tait was born just before 11pm on 27/12/09. Darcy is 50cm long & weighed 3.56 kg. MJ had a short, drug free labour. Scott still recovering. Great photo of the family in yesterday's Sunday Territorian.

Then on the 29/12/09 (4 mins past midnight) Jessica and Liam Molloy welcomed their second child, Emma Sophia. Emma tipped the scales at 3.835kg and is 51 cm (a keeper). Liam made it this time ! Big brother Jamie is delighted with his little sister.

Congratulations to all.

3. Chad Anderson is the latest triathlete to grace the cover of Intensity magazine. Lauren Stephenson also features in the same edition. And she who will remain nameless, got a mention & a teeny, tiny photo in the latest edition of Australian Triathlete magazine.

4. Pete & Louise Brady were spotted enjoying a quiet lunchtime Bintang in downtown Kuta, Bali.

5. Not that they are competitive at all, but Phill Hatty would be pretty chuffed that he came in 42 secs ahead of Shaye at the Benalla Tri!

6. Rumour is that Rosie Sullivan has started her comeback campaign.

7. More rumours that Lake Bennett has seen more than a few cyclists over the last few weeks.

8. The one hour highlights package from Ironman WA 2009 will be screened on Channel 9 at 10am, Sunday 10 January. Keep an eye on your local television guide.

9. The excitement is building in Adelaide with the Tour Down Under start not that far off. Keep your eye on SBS TV for fantastic coverage of all the cycling events happening at this time of year.

10. Did you compete in an event over the break? Would love to receive a quick email on where and when and your result if you know it!

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
