Hi All,

How disappointing for our juniors ! Organisers had to make the call to cancel the junior event at Lake Alex yesterday. With the rain bucketing down that hard, it wasn't a difficult decision to make. Safety first ! The kids will be looking forward to lining up in a fortnight.

When the rain finally stopped, and the BOM radar was favourable, many of our members were spotted out there completing their postponed training. There is a large group of our members heading over early next month for Asia-Pacific Ironman 70.3 Championships at Phuket so plenty of training action is happening.

Hi All,

Hope you are all coping with the weather and the mozzies. We also have some nocturnal ants visiting, but they disappear come morning. (Any natural get rid of hints out there??).

There is more junior action happening at Lake Alex on Sunday morning. The junior committee appreciate offers of assistance especially with marshalling. If you are down there with your kids and are in a position to offer to help out, please do so.

If you can spare an hour, go down and watch the kids ... their energy and enthusiasm is great to see.

3. Your assistance in getting event info out (particularly to the Asian region) would be appreciated. So if you know anyone living in that area please forward the link and encourage them to visit you then and compete.

OTHER NEWS:

1. No Aussies featured in the top 10 male or female at Xterra World Championships.

2. Women's winner, Shonny Vanlandingham (41) held out Julie Dibbens to become to oldest female Xterra World Champ.

3. Congratulations to Michelle Mitchell who has been approved by TA for her international long course pro lic (for events above 1.5/40/10). Michelle's recent 6th at the Gold Coast Half Ironman was within the required time frame to qualify.

4. Michelle joins Ali Fitch as NT's only current pro triathletes. Previously we have had Sophie Hawken and Cathy Gabel race pro, so it's great to see our tradition of women turning pro continues.

5. Chad Anderson is also after a pro lic & will be going all out at Noosa this weekend to qualify for his Open Pro Lic (for events 1.5/40/10 and below). Good luck to Chad and all those competing at Noosa. We reckon Chad has used up all his bad luck allocation and it should be all

6. Watch for Melissa Rollinson in the results at Noosa. She was a silver medallist in steeplechase at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and has successfully made the switch to triathlon.

7. Gu released a new Roctane flavour for Kona, "Island Nectar" ... it's yummy ! I don't think you can buy it, as the Gu guy at Kona said it was a special release. I'm closely guarding my stash.

8. The latest Intensity magazine features photos of many of our members (across a variety of sports). A quick flick through and you can spot Ryoko Jones, Vicki Woodrow, Kyle Gear, Chad Anderson, Simon Cruickshank and Mark Anzin among the many familiar faces.

9. If you want the stork to call at your place next year you better be quick ... bookings are filling fast !
