Robyn's E News 2 February 2011

Hi All,

Please note our next event is Saturday 12 February 5.30pm - not Sunday as shown in Monday's E News. Thanks to the couple of eagle eyes who picked that up !

Hadn't ridden in "peak" hour traffic in Darwin for awhile and won't be again anytime soon as this morning I was almost taken out at the hospital entrance, abused for not riding on the bike path by a bloke who was so fat his car was lopsided and then came across an accident with police and ambos in attendance ... you guessed it - a cyclist knocked off his bike ! Take care out there folks.

OTHER NEWS:

1. If you thought tech (as in speed) suits were banished to the realms of history, think again. One of the worlds most prestigious open water races, the Rottnest Channel Swim has named the BlueSeventy suit as legal for the challenging 19.7km open water race on 26 Feb 2011. And, BlueSeventy are (as you would expect) doing a special on the nero 10km and pointzero3 (PZ3) suits via Aqua Shop.

2. Found in the SPAM box: darwintriclub VIAGRA @ 76% discount ...

3. It's only weeks away from Ironman New Zealand. Those heading over are putting in big hours for the 5 March event.

4. Also training long is Shaye Hatty who has the Abu Dhabi Triathlon in her sights.

5. Thanks to Emma Winterflood there are some great photos from the weekend up on Flickr.

6. Does anyone have the book "Rough Ride" by Paul Kimmage ???

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... pancakes sound good regardless of the time of day
... you read all the food labels at the supermarket
... your HRM has flat batteries and has had for months, but you know your HR to within a couple of beats anyway.

Safe Training,
Cheers,
