Hi All,
The junior mountain bike triathlon at Lake Alexander has been voted a "must do again" by all the young participants! RD Col Smith assisted by John Thyne did a fantastic job with the event ensuring it's success. Our thanks to both guys and to the many volunteers who assisted the them on the day. The juniors (and their parents) really appreciate the efforts of all the volunteers.
Many of you were involved in your personal post Carlos clean up over the weekend. Hope you didn't have to spend too much time lining up at the dump and still managed to get some training in. I think we all gave a collective sigh of relief when it stopped raining yesterday.
As soon as there was a break in the weather, antsy triathletes got out and about and were spotted all over town making sure they hadn't completely lost all that tri fitness. (Which reminds me, I wonder if I can still swim ... it's been awhile!)

HOW DOES SPRINT SERIES WORK?
Our annual 3 race Sprint Series is a highlight of our club calendar, here's how it works:
1. Darwin Triathlon Club perpetual Sprint Series and Women's Series trophies are awarded from results of each of the three races.
2. To be eligible for Series prizes, members must participate in all three sprint distance events
3. Trophies and prizes for Series 1st, 2nd & 3rd are presented at our Annual Presentation Dinner
4. Club pointscore points are awarded on the sprint distance event.
5. Participants in the short option receive 1 pointscore point (participation point).
6. At Race 3 this year DTC will also host the Ray White Darwin 2011 NT Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships. The male and female winners of this event will be the 2011 NT Sprint Distance Champions.
ENTRY PROCEDURE FOR UPCOMING EVENTS:
1. Race 1 & 2 of Sprint Series will be on the day as normal. $5 event fee
2. Race 3 (Ray White Darwin 2011 NT Sprint Distance Triathlon C'ships) entry is online at www.triathlonnt.com.au Individual $25; Team of 2 $30; Team of 3 $45 (need TA number)

1. Australian triathlete Chris McCormack was once told he could never win the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, so he made it his mission to prove the doubters wrong. He captured his first world title in 2007, and won a second last October.
Now he says he's shifting his focus back to the Olympic triathlon distance he dominated long ago. According to Australia's Daily Telegraph, and confirmed by remarks on McCormack's Twitter feed, the 37-year-old will not defend his Kona title in 2011, and instead aim to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London.
"It's the one thing in my career I regret, not making an Olympics,'' McCormack told the Telegraph. "This is my last shot. The door swings shut after this."
2. Don't miss Cycling Central this Sunday on SBS for part two of Hell of the North a landmark sporting documentary which tells the story of Stuart O'Grady's phenomenal victory at the 2007 Paris-Roubaix. Featuring insights from Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwen, Fabian Cancellara and Stuart O'Grady himself, this documentary is a must-see for any cycling fan & part one yesterday was brilliant.
3. Nerida Godfrey couldn't help herself and just had to go for a run during Carlos. She was also interested in seeing how many of our beautiful trees were down but while out in the weather she had four people offer her assistance to get home.
4. Some of the trees look as though they came down like a pack of cards. It's very moving to see such destruction. Our transition area at Lake Alex and been hard hit, so has the Water Gardens, East Point, Esplanade and all along the Nightcliff foreshore. In short, most of the places we have enjoyed running because of the shade are likely to be a little hotter in the future.
5. Chad Anderson made his pro debut at the Australian Sprint Distance Championships yesterday. He must have taken some Carlos weather with him as his start was rescheduled from Saturday due to high winds and water quality issues from flooding.
6. Full results for the Geelong events won't be published until midday. We know that Monica Stewart won her age group. Luckily Mon's Olympic distance event got underway as scheduled.
